It's always terrific to have help with any actions this time of year. This blog post is co-author with my collaboration partner Monique MacKinnon.

Christmas and New Year’s Eve are emotionally-charged times of the year — wouldn’t you agree! Getting and staying in the spirit of it all requires soul alignment. You’ll know whether or not you’re in this soul-alignment space if you can consistently answer “yes” to the following: Am I being true to my core values, beliefs, dreams and goals? So, how can you make this being-ness do-able over the holidays and into the New Year? -- By applying these mental, emotional and physical decluttering tips:

MENTAL, EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL DECLUTTERING:

Tip #1: Observe when you say, “I have to/must/should....” Notice when you think and use these words and resort to guilt-based and pleasing behaviors. Ironically, as I was writing out this tip, I received a phone call from my ex hairdresser, who is now living and working in a city located two hours away from me. She revealed that as of December, she’d be working one day per week at my current new hairdresser’s location. I’m happy with the way my new hairdresser is cutting my hair. So, although it was a tad awkward not saying “yes” to scheduling an appointment with her, it was energizing to be authentic.

Tip #2: Give the gift of personal expression. There is an increased emphasis on “doing” in December, with partying and Christmas shopping as the prime culprits. Amidst all this holiday hustle and bustle, it’s important to not lose sight of what your Spirit (versus your over-doing Ego) wants, in order to feel great (or good, at least) during December. For instance, give yourself and others the gift of gabbing: the space to personally express one’s unique and authentic self.

Tip #3: Acknowledge the upside and downside of clutter. Learning this first hand is the best way to experience what void clutter might fill and how it can open you up for more fulfillment. Consider the metaphor that physical clutter is to our spirit and energy, as high cholesterol is to our body: a clogging mechanism. One strategy for clearing clutter might start with prioritizing each room you want to clutter clear! Then look at every pile of paper or item, and decide to either to toss or keep it. I find that some things I keep tie me to my past successes. No wonder there's a lack of creativity and energy to move forward. Once things are tidied and organized, your energy can soar! It’s akin to lowering your cholesterol to let your blood flow more easily.

Action Nudge: Consider how you are stuck. Do you want to change hairdressers? Or would having a good time at a regular annual party fulfill you? Or are you just sick and tired of seeing the clutter? Then determine what you want tackle next, and begin clutter clearing one area at a time. Notice, once you start the process, you'll build up momentum and eventually get “in the flow” of it all.

Holidays and introverts are only close as words in a dictionary. In life, the events and this people style don't always mix easily. Ahem ... you may want to head over to iTunes to find one of the original versions of the song titled, The Twelve Days of Christmas. Then, sing a long to that song, with a twist on words for us: ♪♪♬♫ On the first day of Christmas, I gave these gifts to me ♪♪♬♫:

1. Finish your shopping online. Why would you venture out to the maddening crowds to be frustrated and have your energy drained? It's easy enough to buy all gifts online so finish up that gift buying on your computer.
2. Turn on your favorite holiday music. Whether you are listening on your iPod, like me, or some other mp3 player, turn on your favorite holiday music and close the door to the outside world for a while.
3. Have a cup of tea. There are a couple of herbal teas in particular that are calming, so give them a try: Chamomile and jasmine can help you to relax.
4. Exercise for endorphins. I admit I am a workout addict – it's number one on my list of Top 25 Things to Do That Don't Cost Anything! The truth is, those endorphins are a mood enhancer. Why not improve your mood with all the other benefits of exercise, including, keeping those extra holiday calories from sticking?
5. Be selective about party invitations. Practice this statement, "I so appreciate you thinking of me but I've got a previous commitment that night." No need for any explanations, and people will surprise you by not pressing you further.
6. Express gratitude. Being grateful can make you feel better. You can write an email to someone, telephone them or just think of an event that you have good feelings about. Gratitude has it's own energy!
7. Connect with close friends. Fewer and more intimate relationships appeal to you? Then focus on including those people in your holiday plans before you decide to try and become a social butterfly. It's more rewarding for us.
8. Make plans with new connections for after the holidays. Inevitably the holidays are a time you will meet other people. If you are a networker, save the further connection for a time after the season.
9. Meditate or just take some quiet time to recharge your batteries. I find just 10 to 30 minutes a day is enormously energizing.
10. Be self-sufficient. Challenge yourself to take charge and host your own party. Set the start and end time and make the list. Or, offer the host or hostess of a party you attend to help them in a small way. Anyone, extrovert and introvert alike, would welcome some help during a party where they are the host.
11. Savor the moments. Be the picture taker where you go. As collectors of thoughts, we can take the photo task to a meaningful level of being behind the camera. Then we might email copies or get prints made for the attendees. Lots of quiet time to celebrate after the event with the memories.
12. And some time alone in a beautiful place, just for you. I'm so blessed to be just 5 minutes from a beach. I love getting there early in the morning for just 15 to 20 minutes when no one else is around. Just me and the gentle waves, an occasional breeze and nature sounds. Remember, New Years celebrations are just ahead!

The Twelve Days of Christmas song, in some people's thinking has no meaning at all, except a catchy and memorable tune. But the ideas here, in introvert style, are meant to have a positive way of taking care of you and me.

What would you add to the list if it where your song?

In the USA, Thanksgiving barely gets noticed in the media. This is a holiday that is celebrated in other places in the world so I wonder what attention it gets there. Are you ready for the bombardment of the commercialism already on us for the winter holidays?

It seems here in Virginia at least, we went right from Halloween to Christmas! Hooray for Capitalism, right? But what happened to the tradition of giving Thanks? Why is the media and your corner coffee shop seemingly ignoring a day that could be steeped with thankful traditions that might help us out of the mess that so many countries are in now?

I doubt my sickness of how we celebrate Christmas with all the red, green and glitter, is related to my introvert preference. So I had to do a little research about this ignored holiday.

- Sports – Did you know football at Thanksgiving actually started in high schools? Then it expanded to the NFL, UFL or whatever leagues. It's big games, and bigger audiences.

- Company attention – I noticed in our local Starbucks, they did briefly celebrate it with some window decorations in lovely orange, brown and yellow warm colors. Even some of their drinks had glowing names, like Pumpkin Spice latte. But, I guess they had to quickly give way to the bright and cheery red and green, more lively colors and names – Peppermint Mocha, or Gingerbread Latte. Most department stores went directly from Halloween costumes to cheery tree ornaments.

- The history channel didn't even have a feature on Thanksgiving that I noticed. Maybe because it wasn't really the pilgrims who originated it? Turns out it was the Native Indians who began a tradition of sharing long before the settlers even go to America. But I still kind of expect the "history channel" to step up the attention on it's traditions and meaning.

- Eating too much – One of the blogs I subscribe to put things into perspective for me. Enjoy this one time of the year you likely over eat. You probably don't overeat every day. Just one day in the big picture isn't going to cause your jeans to be too tight or for you to tip over on the scales. Just be grateful you can enjoy the bounty and tomorrow, eat right.

- Shopping – Oh this got attention. Black Friday to Cyber Monday. Bah Humbug! I opted out. No shopping for me and not even a special for you. Not because I'm not grateful for you, but because Thanksgiving is NOT about the best deals.

This holiday's main attraction these days is more about eating too much, have-to-watch football, and a start of Christmas shopping madness.

Isn't it really about gratitude? Will we ever stop every once and a while as a country, or a world, to be grateful, to express gratefulness, and to give it attention? Are we dooming Thanksgiving to be ignored by the media for what it might be? Or is it up to us as individuals, on our own, to make it a ritual more for gratitude, reflection and enjoyment of simple things, instead of football and frenzied shopping?

What do you think?

Since I've been decluttering – or clearing clutter – I've been taking notice. Feeling better. More focused. Losing pounds - thank goodness.

First, I have this overall feeling of being freer. Lighter. Moving forward. The weirdest thing is that this is the first time in a long time that I haven't set an end destination yet. I'm actually enjoying the maze like direction. I'm not sure what has taken me so long but I can say the coaching program I am in is a motivating factor.

What about those shedding pounds? Even though I'm in excellent shape I want to lose just 15 pounds. Somehow, with little change, I lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks. The weight is shedding off me, but I have no clue how. I'm eating as normal. Aaahhh! I did restart my exercise routine. I love exercising anyway, but with a broken foot early in the year, and then a torn knee ligament just a couple of months ago, things got – cluttered! Now I feel it's even easier to maintain my exercise program.

A second thing is I have noticed is that I am more focused, if that can happen to an introvert! I am only focused on 3 goals. Most days, I stay true to actions that move each one of those forward. The 90 Day Challenge program helps me to do that. If you visit this page, https://ultimategame.infusionsoft.com/go/TUG2/patweber/ you'll get access to a free video series in the event you want to find out more about it when it starts up next.

Finally for now, I find I am able to fit so much more into my days without exhausting myself. I'm not exactly how that is happening but it is. Now I don't mean there are always more actions I take; the actions I take are simply more efficient and effective. By sheer coincidence, the coaching program I am in for this new game encourages us NOT to work on Saturday and Sunday. And except for this ezine to you, which is back to my intended short doses of insights, work is not on my schedule.

There you have the first 3 benefits that clearing clutter has done for me so far:

1) more active with things that once on the backburner list,

2) losing weight,

3) more effective everyday.

How do you suppose clearing clutter helps you to lose weight?

Has this ever happened to you?

Getting more organized has been energizing for this introvert! I've always liked the metaphor that clutter is to our lives like cholesterol is to our bodies: it clogs us up! Starting with our kitchen counter tops put my husband in high spirits – he's a neat, obsessive, extrovert, Virgo around clutter. His desktop and drawers are always neat. One week after my cleaning up, he was still checking in on my office and saying how much he likes it. But one month after my initial clutter cleaning, I am still staying organized. Maybe it's here to stay.

Every night before-clutter-clearing, I would leave my office with my desktop looking like the photo here - or worst. And because I have a bookcase, a credenza, a filing cabinet, and two small shelving units and yes, it also meant that every one of those surface tops in my office was in disarray.

Getting organized and leaving some empty space has proved to be quite a positive experience.

Can I offer a few findings that might, as one of my subscribers who emailed me said, give you that kick in the butt for your cleaning? Or maybe even give you a chuckle?

1- Get rid of anything that you haven’t used in a year, maybe even six months. I don't need to keep overhead transparencies that I stopped using about 10 years ago, and when it's likely overhead projectors aren't even made anymore. NOTE: I subsequently learned it's also a good idea to ask people if they have a need for anything in good shape you are tossing that you believe to be outdated. Some private schools actually do still use overheads and need transparencies.
2- Use the technology you have. Is there any reason to keep a printed copy of the workshop participant materials when I already have them on my computer? It's useful to scan relevant documents onto your computer – tax forms for example – if you know you do have to save them for a period of time.
3- If you feel fairly certain you can research and find it online, toss papers that you might be stacking for "read later." For me that cleared up at least one-third of a credenza drawer.
4- Emotions are cleaner. Yep; I am still getting upset when my husband doesn't listen to me. I really believe this IS a guy/gal phenomena. It's just not as irritating. When vendors don't return calls as quickly as I expect, I'm not getting as upset. And, when things go better, I can feel my better emotions more strongly. That's so much more the place I want to be.
5- Letting go helps you to trust yourself and others more. In particular I had lots of reports, printed emails, paper work on top of the large, flat surfaces of my desk, credenza and bookcase shelves. I find it quite encouraging and uplifting that when I finally did act to clean up, I just trust that if I need that information again, it will find me. It usually does.

My final step in my plan to clear clutter is to tackle a storage room in our garage. It's become like the often talked about "junk drawer" that some of us have, me included. But fortunately, my husband and I are both in agreement that it can wait: it's organized and there is a good amount of empty space that we are able to walk comfortably in it.

Let me know if you are getting your space more organized, what have been some of your lessons?

Or maybe you are just inspired to do so? After all, look at me now:

Today I introduce you to Heidi Richards Mooney from http://www.heidirichards.com

"When we are willing to let our intuition guide us, we make better decisions and can reduce the worry and stress we experience." Heidi Richards Mooney

How many times have you heard that little voice deep inside say “do it” or don’t do it,” And you did the opposite because your logical mind told you to? How often were the results of listening to your logical mind less than favorable? Or how many times have you been grateful to your “higher power” for listening to that little voice?

That little voice, also known as our sixth sense or intuition can guide us to greatness if only we will listen. One such person is Albert Einstein. He believed in listening to his little voice. His intuition may have been what guided his very genius. He once said, “No problem can be solved from the same conciousness that created it. We must learn to see the world anew.” He practiced the skill of listening to his intuition to such an extent to become known the world over as one of the most intelligent men who ever lived.

We were all born with intuition. In fact, it is always ready to feed information to our conscious minds. The real skill comes in learning to apply it to your lives. Our intuition helps us to see possibilities we may have overlooked in our logical thought processes. Intuition is like a muscle of the mind. The more you use it, the stronger it gets.
Four ways to exercise your intuition:
1.Get out of your own way!

Notice how you are feeling. Pay attention to what you are noticing. Use all five of your other senses. Make a note of everything you noticed. What did you notice going on inside you? Around you? Let yourself hear that little voice as you savor the experience of noticing your internal and external environment.

2.Let your sub-conscious mind do it’s job!

With pen in hand, write down three questions (any three questions, the first three that come to mind) numbering them 1, 2, and 3. These questions could be challenges you are trying to solve. Don’t try to find the answers to the questions. The seed these questions plant will lead your subconscious into engaging in finding the answers via intuitive impressions or subtle hints to your conscious mind.

3.Notice the subtle “hints.”

Often times we don’t recognize these hints or messages because they don’t make logical sense. Stop and notice what you are sensing. Breathe. Breathe deeply, concentrating only on the breaths you take. Allow the sense to take you where it wants to go. Do this for several minutes. Write down what you experienced.

4.Go back to the questions you wrote down in Step Two.

Imagine that those subtle hints you experienced were the answer to one of the questions. The answers could have come in symbolic form or they could be clear and direct. With practice, you will be able to recognize and interpret the meanings of those symbols. If the symbolism is “fuzzy” perhaps you will need to restate the questions in clearer language. Perhaps they are not the questions your subconscious needs to answer right now. Listen to the answers and you will discover the questions.

When you learn to exercise you intuition you will make better decisions. You will learn to let go, eliminating worry and reduce the stress in your life. You will have more fun, become more spontaneous, meet new people and really experience life more fully. Isn’t it time to make your intuition your best friend?

This special 7-day online blog event is brought to you by Biba Pedron from Your Business in Style. Today I introduce you to Biba Pedron from www.TheConnectionQueen.com

As solo-entrepreneurs working from home, we wear all the hats in our businesses. That means we often have multiple tasks in our business and our home life competing for our attention and action at the same time. When it comes to marketing, deciding to sit behind the computer to find some time to work on our business instead of in our business can become a real challenge. In addition a lot of distractions usually appear: email, phone calls, social media, tweets, youtube, research online etc... which can take hours a day and affect our productivity.

Here are some quick and simple tips to avoid distractions and be more productive in your business:

1. Organize your calendar daily. In order to be more efficient, you should block time in advance in your calendar and decide how much time you need to work on your marketing. Schedule even small tasks and larger tasks. Write down everything you need to do: like writing a blog post, or an article, do a video, and publish them online, to communicate with people online using social media or spend time to work on your next program or product. Then bock time during the day, and stick to it.

For example from :

-10.00am to 11.00am write article
-11.00am to 12.00pm write 4 blog posts
-12.00pm to 12.15pm break (then you do what ever you want)
-12.15pm to 1.00pm – submit articles online, on articles directories, on social media and on groups on Linkedin and so on for the afternoon

2. Isolate yourself. Imagine that you are in a sales meeting with a client or you are heading a coaching or consulting session. Your phone vibrates and you check it, then you sit at your computer to check your email, after that you answer a call to chat with a friend. All the while leaving your clients there to wait for your attention. There is no way you would do that because you would lose valuable time to share information or make a sale, not to mention you would lose the client! Why would you give yourself and your business the same treatment? When you work on your marketing and on your business, consider yourself one of your most important clients and focus on you and your business only. Isolate yourself, don’t let anything or anybody disturb you.

Personally – when I am on marketing mode I turn off my phone and let all calls go to the answering machine and check them later during the day; I close my email; and I never use instant messenger or answer instant discussion on Facebook. My skype is always on "do not disturb" even when I am on break. I use skype a lot because I have clients in many parts of the world. Skype is reserved for client contact and meetings that are scheduled in advance. I am not available to just chit chat anytime. If I need to do research online I block out a time, otherwise it is tempting to stay online for hours. I close my office door, so people know that I am not available. You can do the same, also if you work from home, to make sure that your husband, wife or kids won’t come to ask you for something while you try to concentrate on your work.

3. Set a break time. Of course you don’t have to isolate yourself 8 hours a day, you need some breaks. Take a 10 minute break every 50 minutes, or a 15 min. break in the morning and one in the afternoon. Try out both options to see which works better for you. It is important to take breaks in order to keep your productivity. Being busy doesn’t always means being productive, so take some ME time.

During those breaks then you can check your phone, email, instant messenger or check your messages. You can take part in a discussion via social media, go for a walk, talk to your family or colleagues and pretty much do what ever you want, since it is your ME time. Just make sure that if you supposed to take a 15mn break, you don’t get distracted and stay online longer than your set break time. This is why it is essential to organize your calendar to reflect these short breaks as I previously mentioned.

To summarize, having discipline in your business ensures that you will have the time to do everything on your to do list by the end of the day so that you can work on your business instead of in your business. Planning out your day with these strategies in mind will help you be productive and efficient in developing your business. By following the 3 simple tips above you will change the way you work, increase your productivity, and as a result the income from your business will increase.

One of the recurring themes out of 15 or so that came up in different ways revolved around - productivity.

One person asked it this way: I need to set better priorities. How do I do that when I am already pressed for time?

Start with being clear on your values. Values help you to focus and be clear about what is important to you. They can help you determine your priorities. I find most people aren’t clear on values. For example, my top three values are my health, my family, my authenticity or integrity. Recently I had a dilemma: my husband switched his birthday celebration from the actual day to two days before. I had committed to a women’s group event. But, I’m clear on my values. Can you guess what I did? I cancelled my reservation for the women’s event and I am going to celebrate with my husband. I don’t need to second-guess this. There are many lists online for you to get clear on your values if you haven’t done so: http://www.listofvalues.com/ is a good one with both a list and definitions. I suggest you first go through and choose your top 20 and then narrow things down to your top 10.

Values clarity will go a long way is securing a foundation for better priortization.

Next move to the time management category of priorities. A way to set better priorities is to identify your activities as to: URGENT – like due dates, projects, emergency and crisis. Things that are not on your calendar all the time but add to the greatest productivity. These things get done first. Then, go to: NOT URGENT – things that add to your quality of life like planning, preparation, scheduling, networking, relationship building. These activities would be next to do on your list. Then you have: URGENT BUT not IMPORTANT! Apparent emergencies, most are a phantom of #1 but usually not important. For example, (and I have not yet mastered this but am getting better!) checking email ALL day long. Say no to this. Check in just 2 or 3 times a day. Then there is what my coach last year called, BRAINWASHER ACTION. Watching tv, computer games, activity that make you think you are creating a quality of life but not really. These things would be last on your list. This 4 Way Productivity Approach is something that Stephen Covey talks about.

Another technique to be productive is called Focus Five. Set your top five priorities for EACH day. Not a long list like you might get in with the 4 Way Productivity Approach above, but just 5 priorities. They could be anything that can move you further ahead in just 30 to 90 minute chunks of time usually. You FOCUS on these until they are all done.

Try one of these approaches for 90 days, then try the other. Measure which one your best results are and go another 90 days with it. Some of us need to switch up tactics to set better priorities.

How do you set better priorities? There are many ideas floating around but - what works for you?

Similar to earlier decades discussions about television in general and video games, the new "social attention distraction", SAD conversation, is around online social networking. Thank you Congressman Anthony Weiner for lending to this conversation. WHAT a colossal ---- social attention distraction --- in that spectacle.

Online social networking is like eating potato chips: most people CAN'T eat just one. Some people eat so many that the real nutrition that comes from talking and meeting with people face to face escapes them. But for introverts, at least as I have found, this can be deadly. We can fall victim to --- social attention distraction.
How much is too much?

Do you have a profile on Twitter? <a href="http://www.facebook.com/BusinessCoachforIntrovertandShy"target="blank">FaceBook? <a href=" http://www.linkedin.com/in/patriciaweber"target="blank">LinkedIn? Another of several hundred that you DON'T want to admit to? (I fess up - I just accepted invitations to two more this last month. Yikes! What's an introvert to do?)

The popularity of social networking sites such as FaceBook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Classmates.com more than quadrupled from 2005 to 2009. But still … with cell phones, laptops, the Internet, actually only 23% of adults think they personally spend too much time using the Internet, computers and mobile communications devices.

Time on it's own is not the one way, too much or too little. Allow the context of how you spend that time help you decide if it's too much. Yes; you can meet new people, and reconnect with former friends. You can find prospect clients. You can even communicate easily, in a way that gives you time to respond, the introvert's preference. Still, some of the use of it is, too much.
Recently when I was reading my FaceBook newsfeed I noticed one of my connections that had a status update that garnered 20 or more comments.

I thought, "Wow, I wonder what they are talking about?" Usually most newsfeed comments have 3 or 4 comments so this sparked my natural curiosity.

Even though the topic wasn't of great interest, "Go look!" I encouraged myself. I took a peek. It turns out to be – a conversation between just two people making arrangements to meet at a local restaurant!

"Are their telephones working?" I thought. I was amazed. Likely not at all introverts.

Social networking sites were created to make money, not to improve our lives or enable us to live out our possible deep fantasies to be on stage. Most of these websites collect data about their members for the purpose of attracting advertisers. I couldn't help but wonder as I looked at this – now that they have set up their lunch meeting, how many ads will they each see from restaurants? What about coupons? Did anyone else need to be privy to that planning?

To stop yourself from the potato chip addiction consider a few ideas:
1) First, set your intentions for being online networking,
2) Find out where people who would help you meet those intentions also hangout,
3) Make an appointment with yourself to be there – just like an in-person appointment give it a start and stop time,
4) Connect and engage! Meet, talk, and know that others are watching so keep your conversation as meaningful for all as possible.

I'm most interested to know what your thoughts are about wanting more or less connection.

How much online social networking is too much for you?

How do you know when your connection has crossed over to social online networking addiction, or social attention distraction?

What is the point that you will want more connection with someone and pick up the telephone or Skype?

Are you ready for your own personal transformation?

As we move into summer, don't neglect the most important thing in life: YOU!!!

It's time to go deep inside - and that's easy for us isn't it? Right now, having completed 5 months of a caregiving time for my mom, I'm in the introvert state of introspecting on some issues that came up for me.

And, when we go deep inside we gain clarity on what we REALLY want. About once a year (no NOT at the New Year!) there is one thing or another that I find has gone off track for me . Then it's helpful to have a flashlight of some sort to get clear about it. And once I do ...
